as i wanted to work in british columbia, i was fortunate that the Government there has set up a special department that helps overseas doctors to apply for jobs and more importantly helps them to complete the mountain of paperwork and get the correct references etc, this amazing organisation is called, healthmatch bc and i strongly recommend it to you if you are looking for a job in british columbia

doctoring in canada

last year when my husband and i were in port mcneill, vancouver island, we looked at the possibility of locuming, myself as a general practitioner and my husband as a priest.
having rented a fifth wheel and truck to tour the island we very much enjoyed our time in port mcneill and so decided that this would be where we would base ourselves.
for my husband to get permission to locum was easy, the archdeacon of victoria just met us for a short time and said he would be delighted to have michael work in the diocese!
for me it was not going to be so easy, i am sure that i have used a whole forest of trees in paper completing the various application forms and getting the correct references etc, any way the end is in sight and i am now just waiting for my working visa to arrive-keeping my fingers crossed
